Here are some frequently asked questions to help you learn how to achieve a flawless Spray tan.
You may have heard some horror stories about spray tanning.

The truth is a good spray tan depends on a number of things: Equipment, solution and how you take care of your skin.

Q: Will my skin turn orange?
A: The fact is, NO!

Self Tanners have come a long way since their introduction. Early self tanners relied solely on DHA to create a temporary 'tan.' Back then, sunless formulas were unstable. Even today there are many qualities of self-tanning formulas and if applied incorrectly some can produce negative results.

Recently, many self tanners started including Erythrulose, an ingredient that delivers a more golden color to the skin. Erythrulose takes longer to react than DHA, therefore allowing for longer-lasting sunless color. The use of these two self tanning ingredients together and with the right balance allows for a more golden-brown hue and a more natural-looking 'tan.'

Malibu Bronze products are expertly formulated and stable blends of DHA with Eurythrulose. The soft spray from the sunless tanning systems also aids in a uniform and natural color.

Q:  How do I prepare for my sunless tan appointment?
A:  Follow the guidelines of your Sunless Technician.

A professional sunless tanning salon will have a trained and qualifed technician to guide you. Generally you should arrive showered, and exfoliated. Shave and be free of make-up, oil, and moisturizer for optimal results.  Bring loose, dark fitting clothing for after your session. Bring a bathing suit or undergarments to wear.

Some customers opt to tan nude. Please check with your Sunless Technician prior to your session, each technician has their own policy regarding clothing. The custom spray tan session lasts about 5 minutes for the application and a total of 10 minutes with pre and post preparation.

Q: Should I moisturize?
A: Definitely!

It is important to keep skin moisturized after sunless tanning as dry, flaky skin will slough off faster and color will fade sooner. The Malibu Bronze tan extender contains a light self-tanning formula that helps hydrate skin and maintain even, natural-looking color longer. Start moisturizing a day after your sunless tan.

Q: When can I shower after my Malibu Bronze sunless tan?
A: It is best to wait about 6 hours.

Then you can bathe or shower. This will give the sunless tan formula time to fully react with skin proteins.

Q:
How many days will a sunless tan last?
A: About 4 to 10 days.

The longevity of a sunless tan depends on the type of  application, the quality of the sunless spray, and on the skincare regimen followed before and after application.

The "life span" of a sunless tan also depends on your skin's natural exfoliation process. The tan created by the sunless formula affects only the top layer of the skin and will begin to fade after 4 to 5 days as the skin naturally begins to slough away.

Q: How frequently should I get a spray tan?
A: Once every 2 weeks.

The frequency of sunless tanning application depends on your skin cell turnover and preference of color intensity. Applying our skin care products will extend the life of your tan. Applying the tan extender daily will keep the colour fresh for up to 2 weeks.

Q: Can I use a regular tanning bed if I get a spray tan?
A: Absolutely!

In fact, the sunless tanning results are phenomenal over a nice base tan. Avoid combining a bed tan with a sunless tan in the same visit. Products and perspiration on the skin may interfere with the sunless tan.

Q: Will the spray tan from a spray tanning application come off on my clothes? A: Depends on the formula.

If you are using a spray solution with a cosmetic tint or "bronzer" some of the color may rub off on clothing or bed sheets. This is most likely to happen when you get dressed immediately after tanning. To minimize the chance of the tint transferring to clothing, we recommend that you wear loose-fitting, darker clothes after your spray session. The cosmetic tint is water-soluble. Therefore, in most cases, the color will come out of clothing in the wash.
